Christmas Actually

I love London. I think that’s pretty clear, and I may be biased because of this love, but I am a firm believer that everyone should experience the Christmas season in London at least once in their life. Yes, I will admit that their “Christmas season” starts aggressively early for those of us that are used to waiting for Thanksgiving to pass before we put our trees up, but even when they start to appear on November 1, the Christmas decorations are pure magic.

As an unemployed, out of school, generally lazy bum, I spent a lot of time wandering around looking at the decorations all over the city. London doesn’t mess around with Christmas. If movies like Love Actually and The Holiday didn’t already convince you to go to London/anywhere in the UK for Christmas, maybe these photos will.

Let’s start with Covent Garden – AKA the influencer’s dream. (I worked really hard…err stood around a long time… to get mostly photos without influencers and tourists in them.)

Speaking of Love Actually – The Somerset House tree and ice rink.

How about those angels on Regent Street??

And Oxford Circus, am I right? The shoppers are a nightmare, but the lights are amazing.

And then there’s magical Mayfair.

Claridge’s Hotel

Annabel’s – Berkeley Square

The Connaught Hotel and Mount Row

That iconic ice rink at the Natural History Museum.

And you can’t forget the Norwegian tree in Trafalgar Square.

So many epic Christmas displays throughout the city, here’s some more honorable mentions.

Christmas at Kew
Christmas at Kew
St. Martin’s Courtyard

The Strand

I barely touched the surface on all of the beautiful displays in London. There’s a couple reasons for this. 1. London is HUGE, and even unemployed people can’t see it all. 2. Sometimes I didn’t feel like taking my camera with me and I just enjoyed the views.

I’ll be soaking in these epic decorations for another few days until they are sadly taken down and the Christmas cheer leaves us. If you haven’t seen them, start planning for next year – maybe Hugh Grant will be waiting for you at the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport ;).

Merry Christmas, belated, and Happy New Year.

*sent from my iPad – so this is probably a mess. Such is life.
